Smartech provided the following design services to various companies:


The design of a real time remote display for a patient monitor. The display receives information via a serial input and processes and displays waveform and numerical information in real-time. The display is based on a PC running a Delphi application under Windows 95. The application maintains real-time performance.

Performed critical hardware and software fault analysis for a portable medical instrument.

The design of software to verify the hardware design of a system prior to final layout. The testing included testing of UARTs, DACs, serial bus, and Optical Isolators.

Modifications of an electrophysiological system based on a real-time data acquisition box and a PC. The modifications were made on the PC to add new functionality to the system and to fix a number of existing bugs. The software was written in Pascal and assembler for a DOS operating system.

Design of an impedance plythsmograph to measure respiration. The design is based on a unique feedback system developed by us.

Design of a USB based optical mouse for the blind the design is based on a cypress microcontroller.

Participant as an outside expert in critical design reviews for a number of medical equipment companies.
